O2 offers a free prepaid card to consumers

With the recent surge of prepaid cards in demand in the UK, Mobile giants O2 have capitalized to offer their new O2 prepaid card to new and existing customers for free. O2 are one of the leading mobile phone operators and have teamed up with NatWest bank to offer two prepaid cards, The two new prepaid cards on offer by O2 are the O2 cash manager card and the O2 load and go card both are offered free of charge but are capped at certain limits per year.

The new association between the O2 telecom giant and Natwest bank has widely been seen as a by existing prepaid card companies as a delight across the UK as this has given the prepaid card industry a much needed boost with larger players and house hold names now coming in to the market. The downside for the prepaid card companies is that they have lost a percentage of the prepaid card market to O2 due to their large advertising campagins and by offering the O2 load and go card and O2 cash manager card free to all new and existing customers.

O2 Load and Go Card

The O2 load and go card is available to under 18’s with a minimum acceptance age of 13 years  which has opened the market to teenagers and to capitalise on teenagers spending and mobile usage which is a growing area in the UK. With a O2 load and go card you can withdraw cash and buy online where there are no charges associalted to using the card. With the O2 load and go card there is a capped amount you can load on to the prepaid card per year which is currently £1800 and many there are limitations to where you can use it online, over the phone and at retail outlets to assist parents in giving the O2 prepaid card to their kids. The O2 load and go card can help under 18’s how to control their own money and manage their finances. The under 18’s can only spend the balance and cannot rack up an overdraft in any condition. The O2 Load and Go card is offered without any set-up or service charges or interest.

O2 Cash Manager Card

The O2 cash manager card offers a higher limit that you can load on to your card which is capped at £10,000 and offers existing and new customers to O2 to be able to use their prepaid card on a regular basis. You can up grade the load and go or if you are a new customer can get the cash manager card based on O2 Money being able to verify your personal details including your address. The O2 cash manager card does not have any of the restrictions like the other card and using your card is again free with no associated charges.

You can get either prepaid card from O2 money by changing to their mobile phone network or alternatively the cheaper option is to get an O2 pay as you go sim card, which is free. You will need to top up your O2 sim card on a regular basis, based on their terms and conditions this is set at £10 every 3 months.

By getting a free O2 sim card you can then opt to give this to you kids so everything is under one account making it easier to manage online and keep up to date with payments and any contracts. The O2 prepaid card also referred to as the O2 credit card has become the hottest commodity in the prepaid card market selling thousands of cards a week. The recession has paid a huge part in the surge of prepaid cards making more people to think about how much they have and to spend their money wisely.

All O2 cards come with a tool to track your spending and they can even send you a SMS based on amounts loaded on to the card.
